I’ve been working on a series of Sea Scenes. I love the Sky and Water thing. The skies of the Mediterranean and the Middle East are majestic and marvelous! The colors seem unreal, but they are as close to what I see as I can get them. The horizons are always warm and of course the more heavenward we go, the more blue there is.
I always thought that horizons were by definition straight, but that’s not what I’m seeing. So, as I’m committed to painting what I see, the horizons will bend and tilt and wiggle where they will.
The title “Deep Calls Unto Deep” is of course from the book of Psalms. I take this as a title for Oceanscapes because the heavens are deeper than the depths of the seas. They may not be infinite, but they are much much deeper than the unfathomable depths of the oceans. My work has consistently and over a long period of time touched in issues of duality, field/ground, positive/negative space, I and Thou. And stuff like that.
Been learning lots of stuff. Gonna keep on learning too!
